6 FAQs about [Prado charging outdoor power supply]
How useful is the 220V AC socket in the Prado 150?
220V AC socket in the Prado 150 - how useful is it? It's a 220V AC socket that is rated for 100W.. and it seems like its not particularly useful. Supply obviously comes from the vehicles single battery, and it only gets power when the vehicle is running.
How do you wire a 2nd Battery to a Prado?
If not the time out is to try to make sure your main battery will start the engine. Wire in another 12v outlet straight to the battery, add a fuse or fusible link to the positive wire. As mjrandom stated, to the 2nd battery if you have one. In my Prado, I have 2 x 12v outlets in the rear, wired to the 2nd battery.
Is there a 12V DC socket in my Prado?
Most gear like tire air compressors or camping fridges run on 12V in any rate, yet there is no 12V DC socket in the back of this Prado that I can find. Also a 12V socket would have been better as I suppose their are less losses than converting the 12V to 220V.
Can a 240V inverter be plugged into a Prado?
The 240v ac OUT in the Prado is probably only a small capacity 12v to 240vac inverter which most likely isn't a FULL SINE WAVE device and so what you plug into it has to be able to accept the “so called” modified sine wave power coming out of that base.
How do I get power to the rear of my Prado?
It is relatively easy to get power to the rear of the Prado if you know how to remove the sill trims etc. Most run cable through the left side cable grommet into the interior and then through the sills. Be careful penetrating the cable grommet as many have come to grief damaging the wiring loom.
What is a good rear outlet spec for a Prado 150?
From what I've read on Prado forums the rear outlet spec for the 150 is 220V, ~0.45A, 100W. Thanks Bazooka. Probably a bit skinny for the OP's application. Some fridges will happily run directly from that outlet but you'd need to test yours. That would save the lithium/battery box for your camp.
